摘要
语言符号的任意性是成年人英语词汇学习的主要障碍。通过汉英语言符号任意性特征的对比分析,可以使成年英语词汇学习者掌握英语词汇的构造规律,从而有目的地克服语言符号的任意性,有效地利用其非任意性,保证英语词汇学习的顺利进行。
The arbitrariness of language symbols is the primary factor that handicaps an adult＇s English vocabulary learning process. A comparative analysis of Chinese and English arbitrary features can help an adult English learner understand the English word formation rules, and hence overcome the arbitrariness of language symbols purposefully and make use of the non-arbitrariness ＇effectively to ensure his English vocabulary learning going smoothly.
