The Rocking Horse Winner is one of the successful works of the British writer D. H. Lawrence. Like his other works, it carries the theme of criticizing the destructive influences of modern industrial civilization on human nature. Irony, as a strategy of narration, plays a vital role in it. Through contrast of two extremes, it does not only help depict the characters vividly and push the development of plot, but makes the theme more prominent.
