Adrenoceptors play an important role in the hepatic glucose homeostasis and heart function.Recent studies have indicated that up and /or down regulation of adrenoceptors occurs during shock.These changes not only exist at level of receptor protein but also at level of transcription and signaltransduction.The up and/or down regulation of the receptors may be one of the important mechanisms underlying disturbances of glucose homeostasis and hemodynamics during shock.
