摘要
一、前言
陶刀是中国古代的一种工具。陶刀的流行时间长，分布地域广，数十年来科学发掘出土的数量也很多。但是，虽然有学者在研究石刀和史前农业等问题时对陶刀也有所涉及①，然而目前尚未有人对其进行过系统研究。本文以历年来科学发掘出土的陶刀为主，对中国古代的陶刀进行初步的系统探讨。
The cord-tied pottery knife was a harvest tool prevailing in part of the regions of China from about 4600 to 800 BC. Its emergence, prevalence and disappearance were closely concerned with the change of all the then harvest tools and manners. The present paper expounds systematically its function, using manner, material, making method, type-division, date, distribution, regionalization, periodiza- tion, evolution and pedigree. Its examples so far unearthed can be divided into the southern and the northern systems, which along with the two corresponding systems of cord-tied stone knives suggest that in a still wider region there might have been close or distant pedigree relationships between different cultures.
