摘要
玉米在晚明时期传入四川。清中后期,此物从更多渠道,在该省很多地方,特别是丘陵、山区广泛传播。其动因主要在于四川盆地相当优越的自然禀赋、较为便利的交通条件,人口快速增长所产生的大量经济需求,农家对玉米的科学认识与对生产技术的系统把握。清代,玉米在四川促进土地开发利用,提高粮食生产水平,引起种植结构与民食结构的变迁,推动商业、手工业发展,丰富民间文化,但玉米种植也进一步引发水土流失。当时,四川部分玉米品种传播到外省,玉米还成为该省农村社会生产关系新的物质媒介。总之,其影响较为显著。
Maize was introduced into Sichuan province during the late Ming dynasty. During the mid--late Qing dynasty, it spread widely through more channels to many places of this province, especially to the hilly land and mountainous areas. The causes mainly lay in the relatively advantageous natural endowments, comparatively convenient conditions of communication, a large number of economic demands engendered by the fast increasing population, the farmers" scientific recognition of maize and their systematic grasping of its production technology. During the Qing dynasty, maize promoted Sichuan land reclamation and utilization, raised the grain production level, gave rise to the change of planting and food structures, gave impetus to the development of commerce and handicraft industry and enriched the folk culture, but planting of maize further led to soil erosion as well. At that time, some strains of maize spread from Sichuan to other provinces, and also, maize became a new material medium of production relations in Sichuan rural society. Briefly speaking, its influence was rather remarkable.
