摘要
形式语法对语序的解释能力来自于其内在结构上的不对称。文章证明,把这种结构性的非对称应用于连动式中的语序-时序对应现象,充其量只能处理小部分的语料。因此自然语言中至少应该包含两种本质不同但共存的语序机制:源于非对称结构的先后顺序和语序与数个被描写事件的时间顺序的直接对应。
The formal theory of language associates linearity with the asymmetric nature of syntactic structures. On this basis,a subset of the word order-related facts in the serial verb construction can be derived. The rest of the data is by nature beyond what the formal theory can account for. It follows that the human linguistic faculty needs two separate mechanisms for linearization, one based on structural asymmetry and the other on iconicity between word order and the temporal sequence in which the described events take place in real world.
