摘要
如何翻译"Gender"一词,是中国学界一个不可回避的问题。在一些学者和项目的推动下,用"社会性别"来翻译"Gender",在20世纪90年代中期之后越来越流行。但译为"社会性别"一词明显存在一些问题,一是与"Gender"的原义不完全一致,二是难以获得大众的接受,三是割裂了与生理因素的联系,四是忽略了主体的作用,因而可能对"Gender"理论在中国的传播产生负面影响。
How to translate ＂gender＂into Chinese is an unavoidable question to face for chinese scholars. With the promotion of some scholars and projects, to translate ＂gender＂ into ＂social gender＂ has become more and more popular since the middle of 1990s. Anyway, it obviously has some problems： firstly, it does not entirely consist with the original meaning of ＂gender＂. Secondly, the public can not accept the translation. Thirdly, it cuts apart the re- lation to the physiological factors. Fourthly, it ignores the function of the subject. So it probably has the negative impaction on the spreading of ＂gender＂ theory.
