As an important American writer in the 19th century, Kate Chopins works are characterized by womens pursuit of a balance between family duties and self values. A Pair of Silk Stockings is one of the writers important stories by which the rhetoric of nineteenth -century feminism in Chopins works is reflected. Through this story, a more profound understanding about the writers view on womens roles and values is achieved.
