Since July 2007, the price of pork in Shandong Province has soared continuously after the price explosiou in May. The price has remained at the high level. Price monitoring of 48 main agricultural product wholesale markets in Shandong provided by the Information Center of Shandong Development and Reform Commission shows that compared with early June. the near-term pork price has gone up again. The wholesale price of pork in some agricultural product wholesale markets has risen by 2 to 6 per cent. According to the report, the average retail price of pork in the supermarkets in Jinan now is over 24 yuan/kg, and the price of fresh lean pork meat is 30 yuan/kg.
