摘要
苏州的方华文教授也许是当代中国最多产的翻译家之一,同时也是一位杰出的翻译理论家。论文旨在对方教授进行简要介绍,并集中阐述他的翻译观点:"红色中国,红色翻译"。方教授认为,政治在中国翻译活动中起决定性作用,由中国政治的性质所决定,翻译活动势必以"红"色为主色调。而形成这一现象的原因主要有:1)历史和社会原因;2)译者的原因;3)政治体系原因;4)公众意愿原因。
Prof. Fang Huawen in Suzhou University is probably one of the most productive translators and a brilliant translation theorist in contemporary China. This paper aims at a brief introduction to Prof. Fang and a detailed explanation of his theory “Red China, Red Translation”. Prof. Fang opines that politics plays a decisive part in China＇ s translation activities, and that determined by the nature of China＇ s politics, translation in China takes “red” as its major color. There are four reasons as follows for such a phenomenon： 1 ） historical and social reasons; 2） human reasons; 3 ） reasons of the political system; 4） reasons of the public will.
