Chinese myth, which is one of the sources of Chinese American literature, is made extensive use of in Frank Chin' s two novels Donald Duck and Gunga Din Highway, particularly in the allusion of a mythical figure:Guan Yu. This article focuses on the image of Guan Yu and at- tempts to analyze Frank Chin's “Guan Yu Complex”. By way of remoulding masculinity with Guan Yu' s fighting spirit against the racial stereotypes and feminity embodied in Guan Yu, Frank Chin secures the dominant position of Chinese American males. Moreover, the description of the double aspects of Guan Yu and the exploration of his fighting spirit help to alleviate the conflict between sexes in the Chinese American literary creation, thus paving the way for the communication between sexes.
