Objective To evaluate the binocular visual function in strabismus patients between before and after strabismus surgery. To compare the different examinations of binocular vision function. Methods 89 comitant strabismus patients were categorized into three groups: intermittent exotropia, constant exotropia, and constant esotropia. To measure the deviation of strabismus. To examine status of binocular vision and retinal correspondence. To quantify the near anddistance stereoacuity To observe thechanges of the deviation of strabismus, status of binocular vision, and distance, near stereoacuity before strabismus surgery, and 1 week, 1 month afterwards. Results Binocular vision function of three group all improved obviously after surgery ( P 〈 0. 05 ). There was no significant difference between 1 week and 1 month after suregery (P 〉 0. 05 ). The recoveryof stereoacuity after surgery in constant strabismus was better than intermittent exotropia. There was a significant difference between nonrandom-dot stereogram (Titmus and Optec 3500)andrandom-dotsterogram (TNO) (P〈0. 05). Striated lenses had higher positive rate than Worth 4 dots, it showed significant difference between them. Patients who are older than 9 years old increased 32% of their binocular vision function than before surgery. Conclusions Strabiusmus surgery is effective way to recover and rebuild binocular vision. Different binocular vision examination have different result ,we need to consider comprehensively.
