In the postcolonial writings, for the purpose of building up national culture and identity destroyed by the colonial domination, writers from the countries which proclaimed independence tend to make use of the combination of their multi--cultural angles of view to rewrite in new forms and meanings the fixed records and editions in "Central Culture" so as to rewrite their native, culture" In his collection of poems entitled The Castaway and Other Poems, Derek Walcott takes the hero Robinson Crusoe from the classic fiction of Western literature.Robinson Crusoe, the established and idolized figure is made multiform in a number of cultural analogies.
