摘要
第一次世界大战之后的英国,女性开始要求获得跟男性一样的平等对待。"男性化"一词很好地概括了当时女性的行为:她们开始在各个方面学习男性,要求享有男性所享有的一切权利,她们要求走出家庭,参与到男人的社交中去。在二三十年代,她们的呼声在社会的诸多方面得到了显现:女权运动迎来了新的高潮,违背传统审美的"摩登女郎"走上街头,新型的婚姻家庭关系也昭示了女性社会地位的提高。这一期间女性在社会中的角色变化,构成了那个时代社会结构变迁的重要部分。
The changes of female＇s behavior between the two great wars were heavily affected by the First World War. That Great War provided the women a chance to compete with men in several areas and even stimulated the women＇s ideas to be ＂like a man＂. I define this phenomenon ＂Virilization＂. Nearly all the women＇s activities or behaviors during that key period of time, from politics to daily life, could be explained by this term. I＇ll illustrate my opinion in the following essay.
