Women's foot-binding in Ming and Qing Dynasties is a sex matter and also has the purpose of making distinctions between different nationalities, which is obviously different from the aesthetic pursuit in Song Dynasty. Foot-binding in Ming Dynasty reflects that the moral degeneration of the society is getting worse and worse. In early Qing, women of the Man nationality imitated the women of Han nationality to bind feet, but Emperor ShunZhi and Emperor QianLong prohibited it by legislation. From this we can see that the Qing emperors also regarded it as an obstacle.
