In 1920s, Taiwan scholars represented by Zhang Wojun approached the literary society of China's Mainland with the faith of culture pilgrimage. Although they brought the spirit of New Literature Movement back to Taiwan, Chinese New Literature writers and community didn't take Taiwan native literature seriously because Taiwan was governed by Japan at that time. Therefore Taiwan literature had been regarded as foreign literature in the following decade. Until Taiwan was restored in the late 1940s, Fan Quan, Chief Editor of Wen Yi Chun Qiu, began to intensively introduce Taiwan literature in his journal and thus brought it back into the concept of Chinese literature. This article tries to trace this process and analyze the social and historical background of the change.
