Tage is a popular dance for self - entertainment among the ethnic groups in ancient China and is a living fossil of ancient culture. In ancient China, Tage was popular in the valley of the Yellow River, the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and southwest China. At present, Tage has disappeared in the interior of China but is still very popular among the minorities in southwest China who have inherited it from one generation to the next. This paper reveals its historical and cultural connotations through a discussion of its traits, cultural rings of transmission and inheritance in minority dances.
