摘要
本文介绍了电波传播数据库(RPDB)的任务、技术特点和有关开发情况。据此需要选择一个性能优秀的数据库管理系统(DBMS)。文中叙述了DBMS的技术特点和性能,对当前流行的几种DBMS进行比较。结合RPDB的开发实际,考虑到技术性能,用户广泛性和应用前景,最后选择了ORACLE数据库。
The radiowave propagation database(RPDB) is being developed in China Research institute of Radiowave Propagation (CRIRP).It is very important to select an excellent database management system (DBMS) forthe RPDB.In this paper tasks and features of the RPDB are described.According to the requirements of these tasks thetechnical situation and the relevant information are investigated and studied for current popular DBMS,such as Oracle,Sybase,Informix and so on. Their distributed and open approach properties are described specifically.In addition,various features of DBMS are compared in the article.Oracle is the moot Popular DBMS with high transaction processing performance,open approach and distributedarchitecture in the world.It can be run at about 80 kinds of various computers and including more than 200GB data.It supports more than 20 sorts of network communication protocol and has many powerful software tools of fourthgeneration programming language(4GL).Oracle can provide Client/Server application platform and construct a distributing database system combining with different hardware system of computer,operating system and other kindsof database. Oracle is also up to the more international standards and has the property of correctness, integrity,easy-to-use,safety,reliability,recoverability and connectivity.In China, Oracle has held the market share 52% ofDBMS in 1993.Considering development practice of RPDB,we also provide ourselves table of comparison for several DBMS.From the series advanced technical advantages,high user share and farther development of computer's application.the Oracle is selected to be database management system of RPDB.
