American eco-poet Gary Snyder is well-known to Chinese researchers for his keen love of Chinese culture and his translation of Han-shan poems. This translation perfectly embodies his ecosophy, especially in terms of sense of place and bioregionalism, and molds some aspects of his ecological ideas, such as that of wilderness. Thus his translation of Han-shan poems turned out to be the threshold of his attempt to fuse Buddhism (especially Zen Buddhism) and ecology.
