The article proceeds from the classification of the pottery used in the Tibetan Buddhist arehitecture, and then probes into the origin, characteristics and development of the pottery. It is pointed out that the passage from using pottery to decorate the roofs of temples and building funeral stupas with soil and stone to building gold and silver stupas owes to the traditional pottery making skills. It is also the evidence of that the Tibetan typical values, their aesthetic standards and their rich imagination have reached a grand climax.
