摘要
针对当前国内对工程的作用和意义认识不够的问题,提出了把工程定义为“以促进人类发展为目的的有组织地改造世界的活动”的观点。按这一定义,生产力的发展有两种方式,即自发的、分散的非工程方式和有组织的工程方式。工程在人类发展中的作用可归结为3点:工程是人类发展的先进方式;工程是科学技术转化为生产力的桥梁;工程是促进科学技术发展的动力。
After distinguishing between engineering and production, this paper defines engineering as ＂the organized activity to reform the world in order to promote the development of mankind＂. According to this definition there are two modes of development of productive forces, i.e. spontaneous and scattered nonengineering mode and organized engineering mode. In the paper the roles of engineering in the development of mankind is summarized as： （1） engineering is the advanced mode in human development; （2） it is a bridge in the transformation of scientific and technology to the real productive forces; （3） engineering assignments are the motive power to promote the development of science and technology.
