This article presents plentiful information about HDTV, including the field of application, the classification of various grades of HDTV, the prospect of market, the development tendency of HDTV technology and the controversy in the establishment of a worldwide HDTV broadcasting system in the CCIR. The author also puts forward his own opinions on the development and application of HDTV technology in our country.
