摘要
自巴尔特在《作者之死》一文中提出了“作者之死”的宣言后,作者在读者对后现代文本的阅读过程中不再被视为权威。但诸如福尔斯这样的后现代主义作家并不甘心放弃自己的权威性。在《法国中尉的女人》一书中,福尔斯通过各种方法不断参与、干预读者阅读的过程,通过采用自觉或自反的叙述方式,以多重身份的创作主体在文本中出现,在写作过程中贯彻有限自由的原则,以期塑造作者新时代的权威。
Ever since the author was asserted "dead" in Barthes' s Death of the Author, the author' s authority has been removed in the reading of postmodem texts. Nevertheless, postmodern writers like Fowles do not want their authority to be neglected by the reader. In his The French Lieutenant ' s Woman ,Fowles participates in and interferes with the reader' s reading process by employing various techniques including narrative self - consciousness or narrative self - reflexivity, multi - role writing subject and restricted- freedom policy, so as to reestablish the author's authority in the new age.
