Judge Dee Mysteries, which is written by Robert Hansvan Gulik, the Dutch Sinologist, is an adaption of Di Gong An which is an novel about legal case in Qing dynasty, but their narrative points of view are different. The latter mainly follows the traditional omniscience pattern, while the former inherits the limited understanding and impersonal discourse pattern in the west whodunits, and sometimes adopts omniscience pattern just as Chinese ancient novels did. In this way, Gulik succeed in paraphrasing the subject matter about legal case which is rooted in Chinese ancient popular literature, and provided a valuable exDerience to the novel's writting at the time of turn.
