It is undoubted that "han zi" is the name for the words used by Han Nationality. But at the time when "han zi" (the Chinese character) was invented, was it called "wen" and "zi"? Or, in fact, it had another name? According to the historical documents, this paper proves that in terms of philology and phonology, the original name for "wen zi" should be pronounced as "shu" and "qi", and that "wen" and "zi" are the loan characters of the original ones.
