This paper discusses the water bearing medium types,karst water types,hydrological behaviors,hydrochemistry and dicharge of karst water,as well as river valley hydrodynamics of Chinese southern and northern natural karst areas.Karst hydrogeologic and engiceering geologic issues of China should be studied in consideration of the existence of and difference between the two natural karst areas.
