On the Evolvement of the Varieties of Guangdong Sugarcanes in the Minguo Period

摘要 民国时期,广东甘蔗的传统品种仍以中国型的竹蔗为主;但传统品种缺乏选择的强大压力,长期没有得到优化。19世纪末20世纪初由于木蔗、金山种等外来品种的传入,对这一时期广东甘蔗品种结构产生了一定影响;但传统品种在广东的甘蔗品种结构中,仍然占统治地位。这种品种结构直到20世纪30年代以后才发生重大改变。 The Chinese Saccharum sinensis Roxb was the main type of traditional varieties of Guangdong sugarcanes in the Minguo period, but they had not been improved for long due to lack of the strong pressure of selection. In the late 1800s and the early 1900s, the introduction of foreign varieties such as the Mu Sugarcane and the Jinshan Sugarcane, has exerted certain influence on the varieties of the Guangdong sugarcanes at that time. The traditional varieties, however, have undoubtedly played a dominant role in the variety structure of Guangdong sugarcanes. Such structure had not undergone great changes until the 1930s.
