The chemical composition of oak segments on which an edible fungues(Auricularia auricula-judae) had grown for one year, two years or three year wasanalyzed. It was found that the content of the combustible composition-extractives and holocellulose in the oak segments came down year by year, andthe content of incombustible compostion-lignin and ash increased continuously. Therefore, the oak segments become incombustible after edible fungues grew onthem. The authors suggests that the branch and residues that may be producedby tending cut should be collected and piled up, then the edible fungues inoculat-es on them. They not only can be used as firebreak zone, but can preserve waterand soil, and in soil nutrient. So it has profound economic significance.
