The working characteristics of continuous surface miner (CSM) were introduced. Methods of determing mining modes and parameters of CSM were discussed and analyzed. When the new technology was used,the results of actual application indicated that the cost of exploiting was reduced to 73% of the cost of exploiting using the old technology.
