The paper summarizes the technology for launching, transportation and installation of 544 semi-circular caissons in unsheltered seas with high winds and waves, high current velocity when the tides ebb and flow, and high sediment content in the water area during the execution of the works to train the deepwater waterways in the Changjiang Estuary. The technology involved the horizontal shifting, launching and transportation as well as positioning and installation of the caissons.
