摘要
用缩略法创造新词,是现代英语的一种构词方法.常见的英语缩略词构词法有截短法、首字母缩略法、拼缀法、首字母拼音法等.以这种方法构成的新词具有经济高效、醒目、易记等特点,被汉语越来越多地直接借用.因此,了解常用缩略语的原形,将有助于我们更好地理解其中所要表达的思想.
Creating new words by abbreviation is a kind of word-formatting method in modern English. Common methods of formatting such abbreviated words are clipping, initialism, and acronym and blend and so on. Such new abbreviated words are characterized by efficiency, strikingness and catchiness and so fourth. Therefore, they＇re directly used in Chinese more and more frequently. The knowledge of the original words would be helpful for us to better understand their meanings.
