Ernest Hemingway＇ s ＂The Old Man and the Sea＂creates a classical heroic character-Santiago in the world literature history through the real life experience of an ordinary Cuban fisherman. And Santiago who is sung as an image possessing human＇s eternal value-self-confidence becomes a merely souled hero in Hemingway＇s heroic characters. ＂The Old Man and the Sea＂ that sums up the writer＇ s creating thought and art exploration holds its special position in Hemingway＇ s literary works.
