Research and Implementation on Path Protection and Restoration Algorithms in Ethernet Ring Networks

摘要 作为局域网主要组网技术的以太网,由于缺乏完善的OAM机制,无法提供小于50ms的路径保护和故障恢复机制,不能用于城域的环形传送网络中.本文提出了一种用于以太环网(Ethernet Ring)上的轻量级的分布式路径保护和恢复算法.该算法不同于现有的生成树算法和以太网保护技术,能够在小于50ms内实现保护倒换且避免环路,具有较好的可扩展性且开销较小.最后,文章介绍了该算法在一个基于网络处理器的路由交换系统上的具体实现. Currently, more than 90 percent of Internet Traffic is originated from Ethernet-based LAN. But native Ethernet protocols couldn't be extended into MAN because it lacks of OAM features, such as sub-50ms protection. This paper presents a Lightweight Distributed Ethernet Protection Algorithm-LDEPA. Different from Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) and other Ethernet protection schemes, this algorithm has the ability of sub-50ms protection provisioning and scalability. This paper also describes an implementation of LDEPA on NPU-based switched router.
