Reading Bai Xianyong＇ collection of works, we were stunned by the rover＇s sense of tragedy and pity. Mr. Bai is a modern novelist who was crazy, about classical drama and classical novels, a nobleman who absorbed the soul of culture from Mainland, Taiwan and America, and a man of letters who took pity on the poor and sang elegies for the old society. He is good at creating complex characters and depicting in detail the complicated fictional world which is filled with love, pity and the poetic. He and his novels set us pondering.
