１９９５年世界地震灾害的主要特点是大地震袭击现代化城市，人员伤亡惨重，经济损失数额惊人，杜会影响深远，是有史以来地震灾情最严重的年份之一。全世界因地震死亡人数共计８７５２人，伤约５．６万人；毁坏各种建筑和民房不下４５万幢，直接经济损失总计１０２０亿至１２２０亿美元。
The main characteristics of the earthquake disasters in the world in 1995 are great earthquakes rocking modernized cities,causing heavy casualties and horrifying amount of economic losses, making great impact on the society. The year of 1995 is one of the years that people suffer the most serious earthquake disasters in history. Altogether in the world, 8 752 people dead, 56 000 injured, as many as 450 000 buildings and houses damaged, $102 billion to 122 billion direct economic losses were caused by earthquakes.
