THE fundamental issue of rural medical care is one that government officials and relevant experts have soughtto resolve for the past two decades. As farmers constitute two-thirds of China＇s population, health care in the countryside is integral to China＇s future development. A solution, however, now appears to be at hand.
Farmers are reluctant to seek medical advice because its cost is dispro- portionate to their meager income.
