乔治.爱略特的小说《佛洛斯河磨坊》,通过水的意象表现了小说的女主人公玛姬的心路历程,揭示了女性处于男权文化统治社会中的困境以及实现自身价值的不可能性。
The Mill on the Floss is one of the masterpieces written by George Eliot. This essay tries to reinterpret this novel in the view of Archetypal Criticism and find out the latent meaning. By the analysis of the image of water, it manifests the mental life of the heroine Maggie in order to uncover the dilemma of women in society governed by male culture and impossibility of realizing their ambition.
