摘要
长期以来不少学者在诠释语言的形象性时陷入了一种思维定势,认为中国人重直觉与具象而西方人重理性与逻辑,在语言上表现为汉语的形象性和英语的功能性。分析语言形象性的心理基础及形象语言的特点,可以看出形象性是语言共性,形象性上英语并不比汉语逊色。
It has long been assumed stereotypieally that the Chinese tend to think mainly by means of intuition and images while the westerners by reason and logic, which can be represented by the imagic nature of the Chinese language and the functional nature of the English language. This paper is intended for a contrastive study of the psychological basis of the imagie nature and relevant characteristics of Chinese and English. It is pointed out that the imagic nature is language universal and English is as imagic as Chinese.
