The history of the development of commercial mortars in China and abroad is stated. And The effects of two types of polymer powders, i.e. cellulose ether and redispersible polymer in commercial mortars are discussed. The properties of mortars influeced by polymer powders include water retention, capillary water absorption, flexural strength, compressive strength, elastic modulus, tensile bond strength under different curing systems.
