Liu Chengzhi, alias Liu Yimin, who lived in the period between the Eastern Jin and Liu Song dynasties vacated a government official in the late Jin Dynasty. Several hundred years later, people regarded him as a member of the group of “Yimin”(遗民)--“old adherents of a former dynasty”, who refused to take part in the new dynasties' government because of their political stand and moral ideal. As a matter of fact, the term “Yi- min”didn' t have the meaning of “old adherents of a former dynasty” by the Eastern Jin and Liu Song Dynasties. Liu Yimin was just a person who loved living in privacy in valleys and forests. Moreover, another meaning of the term Yimin appeared, that is “hermit”due to Liu Yi- rain's behavior.
