Objective To study the expression and significance of transforming growth factor β1 (TGFβ1) and its receptor If(TGFβR-Ⅱ) in ovarian tumor. Method The S-P immunohistochemical staining method was used to detect 30 ovarian cancers,30 benigh ovarian tumors and 30 normal ovarian tissues. Results There were great differences in the two groups’ positive rate and strong positive rate( P 〈 0. 01 ) between cancer group and normal tissue group. There was no difference in benign epithelial tumor group's positive rate and strong positive rate towards normal tissue group ( P 〈 0. 01 ). There were differences in positive rate between the benign tumor group and the cancer group (P 〈 0.01 ), but their strong positive rate had no difference( P 〉 0. 05 ). The positive rate of TGFβR-Ⅱin cancer group and normal tissue group had differences (P 〈 0. 05 ), and their strong positive rates had great difference ( P 〈 0. 01 ). There was no difference in benign epithelial tumor group's positive rate or strong positive rate towards normal tissue group. In comparison with cancer group, their positive rates had differences( P 〈 0. 05 )but strong positive rates had no difference (P 〉 0. 05 ). Conclusion TGF-β1 is over ex- pressed in ovarian cancer, TGF-β1 loses its inhibition of cancer cell through other biological function. TGFβR-Ⅱ is lost in cancer, then its message can't be transferred, thus rendering the cancer cells resistant to growth inhibition by organism.
