摘要
在英语中与狗有关的词汇、习语多带褒义,或以“狗”直接指代“人”,而与之相反,在汉语中有关“狗”的词语多带贬义。这是因为语言是文化的载体,语言同文化一样具有民族性,每种语言中都有相当数量的词语蕴涵着本民族的文化心理。因此我们不能只了解词语的概念意义,更要了解词语深层所蕴涵的民族文化心理,注意某些词汇在语义和感情色彩上的变化,否则会造成跨文化交际的障碍。
Western people always think of the dog as the faithful friend. So, most of the English idioms with dog are commendatory. On the contrary, in China a dog is the symbol of a minion. Consequently, most of the Chinese idioms with dog are derogatory. Language, a carrier of a culture, reflects the cultural and mental quality of a nation in which the language is used. As a result, we should know not only the conceptual meaning of the words, but the semantic and stylistic meanings that are closely related to the culture and mentality of a nation. Only by this can we avoid making mistakes in cross-culture communication.
