摘要
本文论述红字A在小说《红字》中丰富的象征意义。
The scarlet letter “A” is full of symbolism in the novel The Scarlet Letter. It is attached to the breast of Hester＇s gown as the symbol of “Adultery” ; it is carved in the breast of Dimmesdale to be the symbol of “Agony” ; it also symbolizes the degeneration of mind; Apathetic, Artful, Atrocious and Abject, and the last： Ash.
