Abstract The paper has reviewed the basic meaning of sustainability that is it can satisfy the needs of current generation but does not harm the abilities to satisfy future generations' needs. Usually sustainability is discussed from three different angles which are economic sustainability, ecologicsl sustainability and social sustainability. The mutual dependence and interaction of them are also discussed, and then the ashesment index of sustainahility are presented.
