Abstract The writer divided 234 cases with chronic renal insufficiency into three groups. The 77 patients in first group taken the decoction based on the differential diagnosis and the pill Baoshenjiawan or Baoshenyiwan orally. The 78 patients of second group not only taken the decoction and pill as well as the patients of first groUp,but also received a Chinese medicated retention enema. The patients of third group (79 cases ) received the decoction, pill, Chinese medicated retention enema and an intravenous instillation with Mailouning at the same time. The results indicated that the third group which received the Chinese medicine from three routes had the best therapeutic effect on slowing down the prosress of chronic renal insufficiency.
