The article describes the characteristics and separation mechanism of pervaporation process. The research activities in recent years and the development trend of pervaporation membranes was given. The article cites application example of the pervaporation process on commercial scale and gives economic comparisons with traditional processes, It is believed that the pervaporation process has many advantages in terms of technology and economy.
