摘要
本文简要回顾了英语专业本科生教材编写出版的历史与现状，提出了面对新的世纪、新的形势、新的途径和新的要求，英语专业本科生教材建设的设想和建议，并介绍了新近出版的“新世纪高等院校英语专业本科生系列教材”的一些特点。
The article begins with a brief summary of both the past and the present situations concerning coursebook compilation and publication. Then with some suggestions for the development of coursebook design for English majors to meet the ever-updating requirements of the new century, the article presents some major characteristics featuring New Century Coursebook Series for English Majors, newly published by Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press.
