This paper studies Quentin Compson’s Quixotic chivalry and his chivalric actions in William Faulkner’s The Sound and the Fury. It argues that Quentin has always been upholding the tradition in his own way during the transition from plantation society to commercial society, but he is doomed to fail, and to become a tragic Quixotic hero.
