The fertility restoration for cms-bo, a cytoplasmic male-sterile rice derived from ChinsurahBoro II, is governed by a dominant Rf-1 gen, one of the four alleles at a locus on fl-pgl linkage group.There are other three alleles at the same locus, but they differ in their interactions with the respective cyto-plasms. Restoring for cms-WA derived from ″ wild abortive″ rice is found in some experiments to be con-trolled by at least two independent loci with different interactions with parent combinations. In other experi-ments, however,it could be governed by a single dominant gene, multiple genes, minor recessive genes,ormodifying genes. Several restoring loci and their symbols have been registered by the Committee on Gene Sym-bolication, Nomenclature and Linkage Groups.
