Influenced by the aestheticism arts in the blending of cultures, the 19th-century romantic music stresses on melody, color, stage effects and pure techniques in form. Moreover, its content is completely separated from reality, so it has a certain degree of decadence. Therefore, it shares some of the features of aestheticism. The romantic music is further developed in the impressionist music, whose pursuit of formal techniques enriches the expressional ways of music. However, excessive emphasis on the pursuit of techniques and sensual pleasure is easy to lead it onto the extremist's road and turn it into the music of decadence. The Romantic music provides nutrition for the spirit of human beings from different aspects, exerting great influence upon the development of China's music. As a result, many musicians set out to pursue the subjective spirit of music and human beings, attempting to reveal the special qualities of music in terms of philosophy and improve people's mental state by means of music.
